Solihull Council is proposing essential upgrades along the Blossomfield Road cycle route to help improve safety for cyclists and further encourage active travel.
Existing bolt down orca kerbs and wands will be replaced with traditional kerbsbetween Dorchester Road and Widney Lane, forming a safe and fully segregated cycle route. There will be no changes to existing accesses along the route.
Since the current cycling provision was first introduced in 2022, the number of cyclists along Blossomfield Road has improved. The planned upgrades are anticipated to encourage further usage by improving safety for cyclists.
It is also expected to provide other benefits such as better access for sweeping, deterring parking in the cycle route, and removing repair costs associated to the orcas and wands which are easily damaged.
The scheme is fully fundedexternally from the Active Travel Fund and Integrated Settlement fund, which is administered by West Midlands Combined Authority.
We want your feedback on the proposals.
