What is Your Future Chelmsley Wood?

Your Future Chelmsley Wood is a government funded project focused on helping Chelmsley Wood, and surrounding communities, become greener, healthier and more sustainable.

What are the key aims of the project?

    • Improving energy efficiency in residents’ homes to make them warmer and more comfortable, whilst reducing energy bills and addressing fuel poverty.
    • Engaging residents on indoor air quality and behaviours that negatively impact it, to make homes healthier to live in.
    • Improving access to green spaces to improve mental health and wellbeing.
    • Increasing walking or cycling to improve health and wellbeing.

What area does the project cover?

The project area covers anywhere within a 15-minute walk or cycle for most people from Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre.

How can we help you with improving the energy efficiency of your home?

We can help in a range of ways. YFCW can offer free retrofit assessments, updating your home’s EPC, as well as ‘light touch’ retrofit measures including draught excluders/LED lightbulbs. Some homes may be eligible for free retrofit measures including loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and solar panels (subject to availability of funding). We can also help you to monitor and reduce your energy usage with free expert advice and support.

How can we support with improving air quality in the home

As part of the project, we can provide free air quality monitors for your home. We can also offer advice on how to improve your indoor air quality and avoid or reduce behaviours which can negatively impact it.

How is the project being funded?

This project is being funded in full by Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). The project is part of the West Midlands Combined Authorities (WMCA’s) Local Net Zero Accelerator (LNZA) program.
