People talking about adult social care

Would you like to play an active role in helping shape the future of adult social care in Solihull? Your everyday lived experiences of adult social care services can be used to make them better.

There are a number of projects you can get involved in now - read more about them below. You can also register your interest in other topics which will come up in the future.

Join co-production group to help shape our adult social care local survey

To help us understand the views and experience of people we support and carers, we send out a survey following the completion of an assessment process. The survey asks people to rate the information they received, how they found the assessment process, how they felt about their worker, how involved they felt in the process, and how they felt about the services they received. We use the feedback to celebrate what’s working well and identify opportunities to learn and improve.

We are looking for more people to join this group so we can develop a new local survey together. The project runs from October 2025 to April 2026. The next meeting takes place on Wednesday 10 December, 10am to 12 at the Council House.

Feedback about social media campaign to promote online self-assessment

In September and October 2025 we ran a campaign on the Council’s Facebook and Instagram accounts to promote our online self-assessments and carer’s assessments.

We are planning another campaign in spring 2026 and would like to involve people who have seen the September campaign or completed an online assessment.

Please contact us at the getinvolved@solihull.gov.uk so we can tell you more.

Carers’ forum

Great news! We have reached our initial target of 50 people registering interest in the Carers' Forum. If you would like to help us improve services for family carers in Solihull, there is room in the Forum for you. You will need current experience of caring for a family member or friend.

The Carers' Forum has already been involved in the tender for our new carers' support service, helped improve our carers' webpages and suggested a new page with information about caring for someone who lives in a different borough.

To register your interest in the Carers' Forum, please complete the Help us improve services for carers form.

  • We are inviting people to express their interest in being part of a co-production group to help shape our upcoming Adult Social Care Local Survey.

What is the Adult Social Care Local Survey?

To help us understand the views and experience of people we support and carers, we have a local adult social care survey which is issued following the completion of an assessment process. Included in this, we ask people to rate the information they received, how they found the assessment process, how they felt about their worker, how involved they felt in the process, and how they felt about the services they received. We use the feedback to celebrate what’s working well and identify opportunities to learn and improve.

    Working together

This group will play a vital role in designing a meaningful and inclusive survey that reflects the lived experiences, needs, and priorities of adults drawing on social care in Solihull. We welcome participants who draw on care and support, carers, and people who work in care and support.

This project will run from October 2025 to April 2026, the initial meeting will take place Wednesday 22nd October 2025 10:00-12:00 at the Council House. Meetings will take place every 6-8 weeks.

    What is co-production?

Co-production is when people come together as equals to make decisions or create services that work for them all. It is about creating an equal partnership between people with care and support needs, carers and people who work in care and support. Working together requires people to actively listen, share ideas and collaborate.

Co-production involves sharing power and taking risks, confronting issues together and working as a group to find solutions that work for all. Recognising that everyone has different skills and expertise, but decisions should be made together, so everyone has a say on what happens. It can happen at an individual, service and strategic level. For example, people may work together to co-produce a person’s care and support plan or a group of people could work together on a strategy.

If you’re interested in contributing your insights, please complete the form by Friday 17th October:

  • With your help we want to build a forum of carers to ensure that together, we continue to improve the lives of unpaid carers in Solihull.

As we reach the halfway point of Solihull Council’s Carers’ Strategy (2022-2027), it’s time to take stock and check if we are still focussing on the right priorities.

We are looking for at least 50 people with current experience of caring for a family member or friend in Solihull to join the forum.  We welcome all carers including young carers, working age carers, parent carers and older people caring for their husband, wife, partner or relative.

The forum will provide a space for you as carers to come together, discuss what matters to you and share feedback on the care and support available to carers in Solihull. Through the forum you will influence and design initiatives that make a difference.

Please complete this survey to express your interest in joining the forum and to share your views about priorities for discussion at the forum.
