Solihull Council is consulting on its new taxi and private hire licensing policy and would like to hear from taxi and private hire drivers, operators and vehicle proprietors within Solihull and outside the borough. The council would also like to hear from anyone who uses taxis and private hire vehicles or who may be affected by any of the proposed changes.

The new taxi and private hire licensing policy includes:

  • Guidance to applicants and existing licence holders;
  • The suitability guidelines to determine fitness and suitability; and
  • Conditions attached to any licence granted.

The Department for Transport’s Statutory taxi and private hire vehicle standards - GOV.UK were published in July 2020 (updated November 2022) and we have previously taken steps to reflect a number of these priorities. More recently, in November 2023, the government published the latest version of the Taxi and private hire vehicle licensing: best practice - GOV.UK

Both documents have been considered in reviewing the policy, with a series of proposals made, and we’re really interested to hear your views.

Please help us to get this right by reading the new taxi and private hire licensing policy in the document section opposite and then completing the survey below. (Questions will repeat key points in the document.)

The survey is open from Monday 23 June to 5pm on Sunday 3 August.
